DETAILS OF THE SCHEME
The Mabogo Dinku Loan Program, offered by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship through CEDA, provides subsidized loans to various micro-entrepreneurs to enable citizen participation in enterprise development. This program supports micro-enterprises with funds for their needs, such as working capital and small asset finance. Mabogo Dinku offers short-term loans ranging from P500.00 to a maximum of P150,000.00 per person, payable over 3-12 months, aimed at fostering business growth for micro-entrepreneurs.
Objectives
- Provide funding for the development of competitive and sustainable citizen-owned businesses and joint ventures operating both within and outside Botswana.
- Foster citizen entrepreneurship and empowerment through the encouragement of a local entrepreneurial culture.
- Support entrepreneurship development by exposing citizen entrepreneurs to a wide range of business financing packages, including opportunities in money markets and institutional investors.
Eligibilty Criteria
- Citizens must be aged 18 years and above.
- Individuals must operate legal income-generating activities.
- Applicants must be in a group of 5-15 members.
- Businesses must be owner-managed.
- Applicants must be willing to co-guarantee one another in the group.
- Groups must be willing to meet weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.
- Business proposals must demonstrate long-term financial viability.
- Training and mentoring are prerequisites for funding approval.
